At Handfield farms we have a passion for growing and creating. This summer we plan to provide the customers of the Athabasca farmers market with a variety of fresh vegetables from our early season crops like spinach, radishes, and salad greens. To fresh garden peas tomatoes, carrots, onions, squash and many more as the season allows. We currently sell perennials and we also sell MDH Toys which are made right here in Athabasca County. Since we get the toys locally we don’t need to pay shipping fees so we can offer them at an lower price than can be found on line. We can also take custom orders and have customers pick them up at our next attended market.

Our family moved from the craziness of the city for many reasons. We had lived up north, but found that we were traveling the highway to Edmonton far too often. At the time, we never imagined that we’d be raising chickens and goats with our kids. What an amazing adventure it has been already! It’s true what they say, we should share these wonderful gifts that our animals share with us & Barriault Ranch was born!
As a stay at home Mom, trying to get back to simple, traditional ways of living, I started talking to people & researching how to make everyday items for ourselves. My goal was to be as natural as possible in hopes to provide a better quality of life for our disabled son. Of course, for the rest of us as well. It has certainly been a learning experience. Now we’d like to provide the same all natural products that we are using at home, to our friends, family, & community.
We sell goats milk soap, lotions, beeswax candles, bee pollen, raw honey, etc.
I am a new resident here in Athabasca from Goma in Eastern of the Congo Democratic Republic. I am disabled of the left leg, and recently have got my right total hip replacement. I am married and have three boys with two nieces. We are now trying to stand and make the life a little bit easier by serving our talents to the whole community of Albertans. When you purchase one of our products, you become not only a customer, but our friend as you are contributing to our life in Canada and for our family members who are facing a hard situation of volcano in Goma.
We sell bags, wallets, and a variety of other hand sewn products.
Norland Brae Farm has slowly grown over the last 6+ years from a hobby to a full fledged farm located about 20 minutes east of Athabasca. Owners and operators Michelle and Steve Sulz both come from farm backgrounds and enjoy being self sufficient. Norland Brae Farm has been a regular vendor of the Athabasca Farmers’ Market since 2018.
Locally grown vegetables, highland beef and sourdough bread are our stable products. A large greenhouse allows production of warmer season vegetables like tomatoes, eggplant and cucumbers in abundance from late June to early October. Other vegetables such as beets, swiss chard, turnip greens, peas and beans are also produced on our farm. Our highland beef is all farm raised and processed locally and we offer limited amounts of all cuts—ground beef, roasts, steaks and even highland jerky. Our pepperoni and garlic sausage have become local favourites! This year Steve started baking sourdough bread—we highly recommend it for a heirloom tomato or cucumber sandwich.
