Senior Readers Theatre

Event Details

Do you remember hearing and enjoying plays on the radio when you were growing up? Ever wonder how sound effects are made? Would you like to try acting in a play, using only your voice, and not having to memorize a word? Would you like to participate in a group activity that doesn’t require a level of physical fitness or mobility beyond your normal daily life?

If you said yes to any of the above, you are ready to try Reader’s Theatre, which requires NO props or costumes, NO special movements or previous acting experience, NO memorizing lines, and EVERYONE has a part to play.

This drop-in activity is planned to run regularly at the Seniors Centre on Monday afternoons from 2:00-3:30 resuming January 9th and running until May 19th, 2023. It is anticipated there may be several groups formed, depending on numbers of interested participants. Plays will be read just for the fun of reading.

Professional leadership will be provided by Cheryl Andrews who is the Program Facilitator at the Alice B. Donahue Library. Cheryl is a graduate of the University of Alberta’s Fine Arts program in Drama.

Contact Cheryl with your questions: candrews@athabascalibrary.ab.ca or by calling the library at (780) 675-2735.
