Enjoy the lakefront at one of four campgrounds and day use areas maintained by Athabasca County. A $5 fee includes access to the lake, boat launch, outhouses, playgrounds, fishing, and picnic areas. Baptiste Lake, Hope Lake (pictured above), Jackfish Lake, and Forfar Recreation Park all offer great facilities for a day at the beach. Visit our Campgrounds page for more information on these beaches.
Shoreline Camping & Fishing Resort on Skeleton Lake provides access to the beach on Skeleton Lake for a $10 fee, which includes a playground, picnic area, and boat launch. If the water’s too cold, take a dip in their heated swimming pool, or play a game on the badminton or volleyball court.
North Buck Lake Provincial Park offers endless exploration on North Buck Lake – boating, sailing, windsurfing, and fishing – if you get restless enjoying the sandy beaches and playground. The area provides great viewing for birders, as well as a campground with serviced sites for longer stays.
While the majority of our lakes remain free of blue-green algae, we recommend checking the Alberta Health Services website for any active blue-green algae advisories. Click here to visit their website.
The Boyle Spray and Skate Park is located next to the Boyle Arena. The Spray Park is open from 10 am to 9 pm during the summer months. There are picnic tables between the spray and skate park for a place to sit or have an afternoon lunch!
